Two New Barco Lasers for Theme Parks
Barco Expands Its Laser Portfolio With Two RGB Projectors; Designed for the Australia New Zealand theme park industry, with full Rec. 2020 support
Designed to facilitate impactful experiences in the Australian and New Zealand theme park industry, the XDM and XDX feature stunning Rec. 2020 colours, native 4K resolution and remarkable performances.
From Hollywood to theme parks
“With the XDM and XDX projectors, we have leveraged the strengths of our cinema projectors, to bring the same advanced colour performances and visuals to theme parks and other entertainment venues,” explains Ta Loong Gan, Vice President, Immersive Experience, APAC and Managing Director, Southeast Asia and Taiwan, Barco.
The RGB laser light source enables a wider colour gamut, making the latest additions to the Barco portfolio ideally suited to those applications where image fidelity and extra colour punch is needed to showcase the specialised Rec. 2020 content. In addition, the projectors make full use of evolving standards around High Frame Rate (HFR) and High Dynamic Range (HDR) that have become more and more popular among content creators community. In addition, Barco’s Colorgenic technique allows XDM and XDX to maintain their high brightness levels even when showing Rec. 2020 content.
Cost-saving design, a smart investment
Built with the accumulated know-how of the demanding performance and service criteria of both the cinema and live events industry, the Barco XDM and XDX projectors support the priorities of location-based entertainment venue owners and operators. They provide consistency and accuracy over a long period of time with minimal maintenance interventions.
Thanks to the choice of high-quality components and effective chassis design, including optimised cooling, laser lifetime of up to 40,000 hours can be achieved. Sealed optics and complete modularity, even down to the individual laser plates within the light source itself, enable maximum projector uptime.
Just like Barco’s UDM and UDX projectors, the new portfolio members can be managed through Barco’s cloud-based Projector Management Platform with remote health condition monitoring, targeting 24/7 uptime and increasing the reliability of the installation.
The XDM and XDX are engineered with a flexibility that supports an improved ROI. They offer a wide range of lens options including a total of fourteen high-brightness and five high-contrast variants with ratios ranging from an ultra-short throw 0.38:1 to a long throw 11:1.
When it comes to Barco’s continuous eco-conscious efforts in the manufacturing of more sustainable products, the XDM and XDX are no exception. The projectors’ durable design, smart material choices and industry-leading energy efficiency has resulted in an A-score within the Barco Eco Product label for both projectors based on the company’s ISO14021 compliant eco-scoring methodology.
Ta Loong Gan added, “Barco projectors have been game-changers in laser projection across the Asia Pacific region enabling cinemas, event organisers and museum owners to make the impossible possible. The new XDM and XDX will continue that tradition. For planetariums, dark rides and immersive destinations of all kinds, the XDM and XDX will help create those immersive experiences and engaging moments that keep visitors coming back for more.”
