ALCONS CRS12GT: HIGH OUTPUT PRO RIBBON SURROUND

Alcons Audio’s new CRS12GT is a two-way passive-filtered loudspeaker, designed for current and future immersive surround sound formats. Featuring proprietary pro-ribbon driver technology, the model delivers clarity and intelligibility with a high dynamic range and up to 90 per cent less distortion than traditional cinema surround systems, the Dutch company says.

The system comprises one RBN601 6-inch pro-ribbon driver for HF and a vented 12-inch mid-bass for LF reproduction. The HF section has a 1000W peak power input, enabling a 1:15 RMS-to-peak dynamic range with lowest distortion from 1000Hz to beyond 20KHz. The absence of a compression threshold caters for a linear tonal balance at any SPL from a whisper to the largest explosions.

It comes in two versions: the CRS12GT90 offers 90°H x 40°V dispersion, and the CRS12GT60 offers 60°H x 30°V dispersion for the surround locations closest to the screen channels. A 10° slanted baffle combined with a multi-faceted trapezoidal cabinet and upside-down speaker arrangement enables precise projection to the critical listening area while preventing wall and ceiling reflections.

For full system performance Alcons recommends its ALC amplified loudspeaker controller to deliver maximum high-end sound quality with increased headroom and reliability. The CRS12GT is available in 8-ohm and 4-ohm models for greater efficiency in individually-amplified immersive surround systems, comes with a six-year warranty and can be supplied in any RAL colour for interior blending.
