Behringer has announced four new additions to its digital mixer lineup, designed to give FOH engineers freedom of movement throughout venues.

Building on the success of the company’s X32 mixer, the new X Air series is wireless and remote-controllable with a range from 12 to 18 inputs. The models feature Midas-designed mic preamps, an integrated tri-mode wi-fi router, and four X32 stereo FX processors that includes close to 50 of the X32’s plugins. Certain X Air models will feature multi-channel, bi-directional USB audio/MIDI interfaces and Ultranet connectivity for Behringer’s P-16 personal monitoring system.

“For the first time in audio history, Behringer has created a digital mixer which is integrated into a stage box and combined with a wireless router, recording interface, personal monitoring system and even a revolutionary auto-mixing function,” says senior engineer Jan Duwe, of Behringer parent company Music Group. “While not only unprecedented from an engineering point of view, the starting price of US $299 is equally unheard of.”

The range isn’t confined to iOS either, but includes Android, Windows and Linux tablets, all sizes of iPads as well as PC notebooks.

The X18 (pictured) can be used as a universal dock for tablets and notebooks, while the XR18, XR16 or XR12 are ideal as stage box format mixers and come with a rack-mounting kit for installed applications.
