dnp denmark has launched what it claims to be the world’s largest optical front projection screen with an image area of up to 5.3 x 3 metres, or the equivalent to 240-inches in 16:9, with “near” flat-screen optical image quality.

The extra large image is obtained by joining together two sheets of optical film that delivers “best-in-class” contrast and colour reproduction even in brightly lit environments, with a specially designed framing system to maintain tension on the screen material. The company says the viewing area appears ”virtually seamless”. The Supernova XL can be rolled up for transportation and the screens are shipped in boxes of 600 x 425mm. On site, the company says screen can be assembled “by two people in a couple of hours, depending on their skill level and the screen size”.

The screen is compatible with HD and 4K projectors, and is available in any aspect ratio and image size up to 5.3 x 3 metres. It comes standard with an 86mm wide black frame, with options including black coating or black velvet for optimal light absorption.

“The Supernova XL screen’s size and optical performance make it the ideal option for large venues such as big conference rooms, auditoriums and houses of worship,” says dnp’s global sales and marketing VP, Soeren Kraemmergaard. “We’ve designed the new screen to be visually impressive yet still affordable, with a smart shipping solution that saves cash and time.”

Prices have not yet been released.
