CRESTRON OFFERS COMPLETE 4K LINE

By

18 January 2015

The world is adopting 4K at breakneck speed, rendering 2K technology obsolete just as rapidly according to Crestron.

“There’s simply no point in purchasing 2K technology any longer,” says the company’s chief technology officer Fred Bargetzi. “Additionally, we’re seeing more and more higher resolution devices, such as 2560×1440 output from Apple laptops, which require more signal bandwidth than switchers designed for 1080p and 2K distribution can provide.”

The claim is a prelude to the company’s latest announcement that it is shipping the only complete, certified 4K distribution solution with the latest additions to its DigitalMedia 3.0 lineup including a 4K/60Hz scaler, transmitters and receivers, input and output cards, distribution amplifiers, and DM Ultra cables.

“These new products offer further proof that no other solution can compete with the complete package you get with DM 3.0,” Bargetzi says. “With DM 3.0 you get the most innovative products, an installed base of millions of HDMI and HDBaseT ports, the most comprehensive training, and award-winning service and support, including our new live online assistance.”

Crestron’s “first and only” 4K/60Hz receiver, room controller and scaler offers a unique in-house scaler chip that can convert any resolution and frame rate to any other resolution and frame rate up to 4096 x 2160 at 60Hz.

Crestron’s latest 4K wall plate transmitters and receivers are powered over DigitalMedia and only require a single cable. Using CEC, many devices can be controlled through their HDMI connections, eliminating the need for serial cables or IR emitters. Both devices are available in black or white and use a standard electrical box for tidy installation.

The new 4K DigitalMedia input cards for DM switchers provide a single DM or HDBaseT input for any DM switcher with modular input card slows, and handle 4K and Ultra HD video resolutions. The cards are available with a DSP for stereo downmixing of multichannel input signals to enable simultaneous distribution of multichannel and two-channel audio (models: DMC-4K-C and DMC-4K-C-DSP)

Plenum and non-plenum type DigitalMedia Ultra Cables deliver error-free 4K HDMI signals over HDBaseT over long distances. Crestron says the cables are the only ones to exceed HDMI specs, which allows fewer than one pixel error per billion, for HDBaseT distribution of 4K content up to 100m. The cat7 shielded twisted pair cables are engineered for top performance for 10Gb Ethernet (image: model DM-CBL-Ultra-P)
Crestron’s new 1-to-2, 1-to-4, and 1-to-8 4K distribution amplifiers split one 4K HDMI source to two, four, or eight separate outputs, respectively (image: model HD-DA8-4K-E).
